For more than two decades, my work has centered around the life-changing power of education—first
in K-12 public schools, and later inside the walls of correctional institutions across Maryland. I’ve
witnessed education in its most traditional form, and I’ve also seen it serve as a lifeline for students
whose futures depend on someone believing in their potential long before they believe in it themselves.
These experiences shape everything I do as the Founder and CEO of As You Are Consulting Group
LLC. Educational consulting, to me, is not simply analyzing systems or designing programs—it’s a
human-centered strategy to help schools, leaders, and institutions transform into the places they
envision becoming.
A People-Centered, Data-Driven Philosophy
Education only truly changes when people change—so I start with people.
But transformation must also be anchored in data: student outcomes, instructional practice, operational
realities, equity gaps, learning progressions, and how systems are designed to either accelerate or
obstruct progress.
My consulting philosophy blends both:

One of the lessons I learned working inside correctional education is that organizations don’t transform

Every school, every program, and every learning environment has strengths. My role is to identify them,

- design pathways for incarcerated learners to earn diplomas

- I’ve worked inside complex systems where change required creativity, diplomacy, collaboration, and
evidence-based leadership. Those experiences continue to shape the solutions I design today.
